Privacy Statement

What information do we gather?

When any awayWEB web site is visited, a record of the visit is made in the web server's log. The information logged is for statistical purposes only and does not personally identify the visitor. This information includes the visitor's ip address, date and time of the visit, the pages visited on the awayWEB web site, the site and page the visitor accessed awayWEB from and the type of browser used by the visitor. awayWEB will not attempt to use this information to identify individual visitors or their personal browsing activities. However, in the unlikely event of an investigation, a law enforcement agency may exercise its legal authority to inspect the web site logs.

At times cookies may be used by the awayWEB web site to assist visitors, and/or to provide security information identifying the visitor to the awayWEB sites. Only session cookies will be used. Session cookies are destroyed when the visitor's browser is closed and no cookie-based information is maintained which may identify a visitor should they visit the site at a later date.

If a visitor emails awayWEB, the sender's email address and name is recorded by awayWEB for the purposes of replying to the email and to facilitate any future email communications. Contents of email communications may be recorded and archived to facilitate ongoing communications.

If a visitor chooses to register with the awayWEB online store, certain personal information is requested (such as personal and company names, addresses and other information). Only information required for processing and fullfilment of orders is requested.

How do we use this information?

The information logged by awayWEB's web site is used for statistical purposes and to determine the most effective design for the web site, including ways to improve the web site.

Personal information, including email addresses and content, telephone numbers and physical addresses collected from individuals or organisations for operational purposes is used to provide information to staff where appropriate in performing duties including providing support to customers, improving the design and implementation of our products and for providing aggregate information for statistical purposes.

If a visitor chooses to register with the awayWEB online store, all personal information collected is stored securely and privately by awayWEB for the purposes of taking and processing orders, obtaining payment and for management of a customer account. awayWEB may pass certain information to authorised 3rd parties involved in the processing or fulfilment of orders (such as payment processors, mailing houses or product manufacturers).

Any personal information received by awayWEB will only be used for the purpose for which it was provided and will not be added to a mailing list or used for any other purpose without the owner's consent.

Confidential data of awayWEB (Aust) Pty Ltd may be handled by authorised 3rd party IT service providers during the normal course of business operations (such as by provision of data backup and recovery services, IT support and system repairs). Individual personal information is never divulged to staff of such 3rd party providers, and none are authorised to access, retain or make use of any such information.

Where it is necessary for awayWEB to comply with legal responsibilities and lawful requests by law enforcement agencies, awayWEB will provide required information to the appropriate agency when requested or when awayWEB has reason to suspect that unlawful activity has been, is being or may be engaged in (clause 2.1(f) of the National Privacy Principles, AU).
